Chiswick and Hammersmith
There is a stretch along the north bank of the River Thames from which Hammersmith Bridge can be seen to the left and Chiswick Eyot to the right. This broad sweep of river has long appealed to Victor as the perfect subject for a panorama and inspired the painting and drawing below.

Towards Hammersmith, a number of distinctive views and motifs have repeatedly caught Victor’s eye at different seasons, in changing light, and at different times of day.
Towards Chiswick lies Chiswick Eyot, one of Victor’s favourite places to sketch. It recurs throughout his sketchbooks and the Living Scroll, offering an ever-changing source of inspiration as the river, weather and seasons continually transform the landscape.
